Team Eucharist

               for Sunday 6th September 2020

                        St. George’s Tyldesley

Welcome to our worship today. Please remain seated throughout the service until you are advised to move.

We meet in the name of the Father,

the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  The president introduces the service.

The president prays an opening prayer.

Almighty God,

to whom all hearts are open,

and from whom no secrets are hidden:

cleanse the thoughts of our hearts

by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,

that we may perfectly love you,

and worthily magnify your holy name;

through Christ our Lord .

As we gather, let us confess our sins in penitence and faith, firmly resolved to keep God’s commandments and to live in love and peace with all.

Most merciful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we confess that we have sinned in thought and word and deed. We have not loved you with our whole heart. We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are, and direct what we shall be; that we may do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with you, our God. Amen.

We are assured of God’s forgiveness.

Almighty God,

who forgives all who truly repent,

have mercy upon you,

pardon and deliver you from all your sins,

confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,

and keep you in life eternal;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Silence is kept.

Ministry of the Word

We hear a reading from the Old Testament.

Ezekiel 33.7-11

At the end of the reading.

So you, mortal, I have made a sentinel for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, “O wicked ones, you shall surely die,” and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from their ways, the wicked shall die in their iniquity, but their blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked to turn from their ways, and they do not turn from their ways, the wicked shall die in their iniquity, but you will have saved your life.10 Now you, mortal, say to the house of Israel, Thus you have said: “Our transgressions and our sins weigh upon us, and we waste away because of them; how then can we live?” 11 Say to them, As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from their ways and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel?

For the word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God.

Gospel Reading

The Gospel reading is introduced.

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew.

Glory to you, O Lord.

15 “If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. 16 But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. 17 If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. 18 Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. 19 Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

At the end

This is the Gospel of the Lord

Praise to you, O Christ.

A minister shares with us.

The Creed

Let us declare our faith in God,Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in God the Father,

from whom every family in heaven

and on earth is named.

We believe in God the Son,

who lives in our hearts through faith,

and fills us with his love.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit,

who strengthens us with power from on high.

We believe in one God;

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Prayers of Intercession

One of these responses is used.

Lord, in your mercy,

hear our prayer

Lord, hear us.

Lord graciously hear us.

At the end.

Merciful Father,

accept these prayers

for the sake of your Son,

 our Saviour Jesus Christ.

The Peace

We remain seated.

The president introduces the peace.

Christ is our peace.

He has reconciled us to God

In one body by the cross.

We meet in his name and share his peace.

The peace of the Lord be always with you.

And also with you.

We remain seated.

Ministry of the Sacrament

Holy God, holy and strong, holy and immortal,

give us the bread of everlasting life,

and make us branches of the true vine.

The Lord is here.

 His Spirit is with us.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is always right to give you thanks,

God our Creator,

loving and faithful,

holy and strong.

You made us

and the whole universe,

and filled your world with life.

You sent your Son to live among us,

Jesus our Saviour, Mary’s child.

He suffered on the cross;

he died to save us from our sins;

he rose in glory from the dead.

You send your Spirit

to bring new life to the world,

and clothe us with power from on high.

And so we join the angels

to celebrate and sing:

Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Father, on the night before he died,

Jesus shared a meal with his friends.

He took the bread, and thanked you.

He broke it, and gave it to them, saying:

Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.

Do this to remember me.

After the meal, Jesus took the cup of wine.

He thanked you, and gave it to them, saying:

Drink this, all of you.

This is my blood,

the new promise of God’s unfailing love.

Do this to remember me.

Jesus Christ has died.

Jesus Christ has died.

Jesus Christ is risen.

Jesus Christ is risen.

Jesus Christ will come again.

Jesus Christ will come again.

Father, as we bring this bread and wine,

and remember his death and resurrection,

send your Holy Spirit,

that we who share these gifts

may be fed by Christ’s body and his blood.

Pour your Spirit on us

that we may love one another,

work for the healing of the earth,

and share the good news of Jesus,

as we wait for his coming in glory.

For honour and praise belong to you, Father,

with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit:

one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

The president introduces the Lord’s Prayer.

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come;
thy  will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,

the power, and the glory
for ever and ever.

Breaking of the Bread

We break this bread

to share in the body of Christ.

Though we are many, we are one body,

because we all share in one bread.

Invitation to Communion

Jesus is the Lamb of God

who takes away the sin of the world.

Blessed are those who are called to his supper.

Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof,

but only speak the word and my soul shall be healed.

The president receives Holy Communion in both kinds.

Prayer after Communion

Silence is kept.

The president prays the Post Communion prayer.

God of all mercy,

in this eucharist you have set aside our sins

and given us your healing:

grant that we who are made whole in Christ

may bring that healing to this broken world,

in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
